If your healthcare provider has recommended that you seek physical therapy, there’s a good chance you have some questions about PT. And our fully licensed and accredited physical therapist at Motion Dynamics Physical Therapy is more than happy to provide answers!
If you haven’t had physical therapy before, we’d like to prepare you for an experience that has been achieving life-changing results in our clients’ lives for years. Here are a few of the most common questions our first-time clients ask about what we do:
What is physical therapy? PT provides one-on-one care and training that helps relieve pain and improve flexibility, balance, and strength for people of all ages and fitness levels. PT has been proven to be a valuable part of a person’s recovery from an injury; and to prepare for or heal from surgery. Our treatments are customized for each person, and are continually adjusted as progress is made.
What takes place during a session? During each visit, our physical therapist uses hands-on techniques that may include massage or other therapeutic methods to relieve pain and soreness or loosen tight muscles. We work to stabilize the client’s joints and muscles to allow flexibility, provide guidance and training on stretching techniques, and engage the client in a regimen of exercises designed to target areas that require strengthening. A home program may be provided for between-visit maintenance.
Will these exercises make me sore? Physical therapy may involve being pushed out of your comfort zone, which can cause some underused or tight muscles and joints to experience soreness that comes with growth and independence. We take slow, incremental steps designed to challenge each person, but not push them too far.
Physical therapy is the natural, holistic method of attaining health and bringing your body into harmony. The physical therapist at Motion Dynamics Physical Therapy can answer any questions you have about what we do; please contact us today to schedule a consultation!
